A Norwegian architect I visited lived with partial paralysis. Though he primarily occupied and utilized his wheelchair on the main floor, he could pull himself upstairs with the help of handrails. But he could not handle the grandkids at the same time, nor could they reach the handrails for balance. Because he so dearly loved the bedtime routine with the toddlers, he designed and installed this double handrail as a graceful solution.
